The heartwarming images have gone viral online, having been liked more than 25,000 and commented on more than 10,000 times on Chinese social media. The two lovebirds were spotted in Chongqing Municipality's Shapingba District in south-western China.
A woman named Xie took the photos and shared them online. She said the two were at the Xinqiao Hospital waiting to see a doctor. Xie added that the two had already swapped shoes when they showed up at the hospital and that the woman appeared to be in some discomfort.

Xie said: "The high heels were pink, so it was very obvious when I saw the man wearing them. She did offer to swap their shoes again, but he refused. I found that really, really sweet."

She wasn't the only one who found the gesture touching — tens of thousands of others online did too.
