Shatta Wale didn’t insult Wizkid – Hammer supports SM boss

A popular Ghanaian music producer of ‘Last 2’ fame, Edward Nana Poku Osei, better known as Hammer, has added his voice to the social media ‘war’ between Shatta Wale and some fans of Nigerian artiste, Wizkid.

Some fans of the Nigerian ‘Starboy’ are waging a social media 'war' on Shatta Wale after he was reported to have said he [Wale] doesn’t regard Wizkid as a ‘Superstar’. While some Ghanaian artistes are throwing their weights behind Wizkid, others are also calling Shatta Wale to order for his unwarranted attack on the Nigerian artiste.

The social media ‘fight’ seems to be getting out of control as some fans of Wizkid have registered their displeasure at Shatta Wale for ‘disrespecting Nigerians’. However, the renowned music producer Hammer, says Shatta Wale’s statement did not reek of disrespect but rather an expression of his opinion. In a Facebook post, Hammer disclosed that he does not find anything wrong with Shatta Wale expressing his opinion on his fellow artiste. The producer says he will rather blame journalists and bloggers who first broke the story in a controversial manner.

Hammer, commenting on the controversy, wrote on his Facebook wall: “Shatta said me I no dey see Wizkid superstar oo”. Story quoted him as saying “Wizkid is not a super star”. Now why would you wanna do that…” In his estimation, it is normal for artistes to share their opinions about other musicians even if there are not within their jurisdiction. "50cent probably doesn’t necessarily see Lil Wayne as a super star cos he probably believes he’s his equal but from where I sit, I do think Wayne is a super star from my perspective.

I guarantee u many of Nigerian celebrities don’t even see our Sark as a super star,” Hammer posted. He therefore called for a ceasefire between Ghanaians and Nigerians on social media. “There’s no problem here, stop inciting a rivalry between us and Nigerians. I respect the Shatta movement and their hustle. Salute #SM4lyf,” Hammer said.
